What is measure of a man? Is it the amount of money he has? The possessions he owns and the power he holds? Is it professional success he’s achieved over the years? I don’t believe is it any of those things. The true measure of a man is how much love he gives; how selflessly he shares whatever he can help others; how consistently he lifts up those around him with a kind word, a funny joke, a compliment, a humble ear, or the very shoes off his feet.

By this measure Donnell was immeasurable. On May 1, 2020, we lost a son, a brother, a father, an uncle and a friend. But only in body, not in spirit. Though painful and heart breaking, please do your best to remain grateful and comforted by remembering how much Donnell positively affected the lives of others. He was one of the most considerate people who would literally give you his influence and his energy are indivisibly linked to ours and now we must take comfort in that. Memories of Donnell will forever be in our hearts, until the very day they stop beating. It is his family’s hope and prayer that his influence and impact encourage you all to become as caring as compassionate and as empathic as he once was.

Donnell was preceded in death by his parents Edna M. Dubose and Eddie Wilkes; one sister Inetta Wilkes Two brothers Robert Earl Wilkes and Eddie Ray Wilkes; his wife Martha Ruth Wilkes and ones some Mannie Fentress.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving companion and high school sweetheart Theomis Page; his children Lucresia Parks, Tron (Twanna) Sain, Kevis Wilkes, Shelby Wilkes, Shay (Tony) Stackens, Alicea Barnette; sisters Ruby Jean Sain, Carolyn Rainer, Forestine Bolden, Maxine Sain, Gloria Heard, Pamela Wilkes, Diana Wilkes, Cynthia Wilkes, Sabrina Wilkes, and Betty MCgee; he also leaves his brothers Grady Wilkes, Maurice Wilkes, Jason Wilkes, Clyde Wilkes, David Wilkes, Lorenzo Wilkes. As well as a host of other family members and friends.
