Charles (Charlie) Edward Kizer, Sr. was born on May 16, 1947 in Lexington, TN to the late John Logan and Nell Amie Kizer. Charles departed this life on Tuesday evening January 2, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Alisha Gail Hopewell. Charlie accepted Christ at an early age. Charlie graduated from Montgomery High School in 1966 and enlisted in the United States Army serving three years until he was honorably discharged with a purple heart and bronze star.

Charlie was married on November 2, 1969 to Nelie Mae Carver and to this union five children were born. Charles was employed with Henderson County Board of Education, where he served for over 30 years. You could find him doing everything from electrical work to landscaping. In his last years, he rejoined the Male Choir at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.

Charlie was very well known in the community and befriended almost everyone he met. His generosity led him to open his heart
and home to many people, who he treated as if they were his own children. He was the Pit Master of Henderson County where
everyone loved his chicken, pulled pork, grilled turkeys and his infamous sauce. He leaves a legacy of love, family and hard work
that has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. His laughs, smiles, and big heart will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife: Nelie Mae Kizer; his children: Amie (Kenneth) Jones, Claretha Hess, Charles (Dapne) Kizer, Jr., Veronica Kizer, Talonda (Michael) McGill, Adrian Moffitt, Christopher Moffitt, Jessica Moffitt; nine brothers: Robert Kizer of Southbend, IN, James Earl (Vernice) Kizer of Nashville,TN, John L.
