Missionary Novella Harrell Mays (Aunt Sissy) was born November 29, 1931 to the late Charlie V. and Rebecca Frye Harrell. She departed this life on April 26, 2017. Novella was educated in the Chester County School System. She graduated high school from Decatur Crowder High School in 1964. She was also a faithful worker for Salant & Salant, Wellington, and for The City of Parsons. Missionary Mays accepted Christ at an early age. She was a lifetime faithful member of Temple Church of God in Christ until her death. She served as faithful under the leadership ofElder Grimes, Elder Johnnie Brown, Elder R. L. Williams, Jr., Elder Elvis Fuller, Elder Thomas Jackson, Elder Lee Head and presently serving under Superintendent Jo Fisher. She served as District Missionary President of the Choir, Treasurer, President of Sunday School and YPWW, District Missionary of the year 1986. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Rev. Albert Charles Mays on June 6, 1952. To this union one child was born. She was preceded in death by her parents: Charlie and Rebecca Harrell, four brothers: MC, AD, OT, and Junior Harrell and two half-sisters: Callie Johnson, Mary Hopson. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter: Shirley Brasher of Parson, TN a grandson: Dwayne (Suzyanne) of Bath Springs, TN; a granddaughter: Dawn of Jackson, TN and one beautiful great granddaughter that she loved dearly: Zamayiah Chaney of Jackson, TN; one sister: Fannie Mae Pearson of Jackson, TN; four sisters-in-law: Alfreda Harrell of Chicago, IL, Mary Elizabeth Harrell of Jackson, TN and Bertha Chappell of Carbondele, IL and Mae Francis Mayes of San Antonio, TX; a special Spiritual Sister Mrs. Gertude McDonald and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends |
