Mr. Charles LeRoy Wilson Sharp, Jr., was called to his divine home on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Nashville Community Care and Rebab in Nashville, TN. Charles was born on November 19, 1947 in Knoxville, TN. He was raised in McMinn County by the late Charles LeRoy Wilson Sharp, Sr., and Emma Louise (Reed) Sharp. Also preceding him in death, a set of twin boys; his grandmother, Josephine Bradford, and most recently his brother, Andre D. Sharp, Sr. Charles served his country for 2 years as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and saw combat in the Vietnam War. In addition, he served 2 years in the Army National Guard. In January 1973, he was employed by Leroy Somer and retired in 2006 after 33 years of dedicated service. Charles was saved while attending Lewis Chapel AME Church. As a faithful and devoted member, he held several positions including Head Steward and later, as a member of Keys Chapel UMC, he was elected to many administrative duties until he could no longer physically attend. However, Charles remained faithful, encouraging, and prayed diligently for his pastor, his church, and YOU. Throughout Charles’ life, he continued to stand firm on God’s promises and his relationship and devotion to God never ceased. Charles’ Christian journey was something he did not take lightly. His quiet, unselfish, gentle, and calming spirit was a great comfort to his family, friends and all whom he came in contact with. His uplifting and inspirational words were a true gift from God. Charles demonstrated the Faith of Abraham, The Patience of Job and the Endurance of Paul. His faith in God never wavered. Charles was a devoted, loving husband, compassionate father and a proud grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 46 years, Charlotte Easley Sharp, two daughters, Tonia Sharp (Quay Austin) of Nashville, TN, and Nakia (Heavens) Pierre of Mechanicsburg, PA; 5 grandchildren, Cheriste Sharp, India Hollingsworth, Ava Pierre, Aria Pierre, Charles Justice Leroy Pierre (named after his granddaddy Charles), three sisters; Patricia Hundley, twin sister Regina Sharp of Maryville, TN, and Deborah (Melvin) Benford of Chattanooga, TN, one brother, Cedric (Charlotte) Sharp of Etowah, TN., one brother-n-law, Rev. Dr. William (Ora) Easley of Nashville, TN; several nieces, nephews, cousins, his church family, and many beloved and devoted friends. |
