Young Suk McGowan (née Chong) was born on March 28, 1958 in Ganghwa-do, South Korea. She lived most
of her adult life in South Korea, until one fateful Saturday evening when she met her would be husband, Prince. They relocated back to the U.S. where she would dedicate her life to Christ at Union Hill Baptist Church in Whiteville, TN and continue fellowship at Antioch Presbyterian Church in Memphis, TN. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend who made a lasting impression on each person she met.
Young passed in peace on a Saturday evening, December 8th, 2018, at Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Her departure is preceded by her mother and father, younger sister Eun Suk Chong, and sisters in law Brenda Harvey and Emma Jean Trent. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Prince McGowan; two daughters Kimberly
McGowan and JoAnna McGowan of Memphis, TN; mother in law, Gladys McGowan of Whiteville, TN; two younger brothers that she raised on her own, Chan Sik Chong of Suwon, South Korea and Chan Min Chong of Seoul, South Korea; sisters in law, Glendora McGowan and Lafondra McGowan of Oakland, TN; brother in law, Jeffrey McGowan of Whiteville, TN;
two nephews, Ho Bin Jung and Han Bin Jung of Suwon, South Korea; a special nephew Anthony and three special nieces: Brittney, Kiera, and Danielle that she gained and loved dearly and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that she gained and loved dearly.
