Mr. Roy Lee Brown was born October 5, 1949 to the late Mr. Dave Brown Sr. and Verlie Mae Jones Brown Wilkerson. Roy Lee accepted Christ at a very early age and united with the New Hope M.B. Church, he later joined the union Hill Baptist church where he remained a faithful member until death.

Roy Lee was employed at Harmon and Kilgore corporations, he worked in construction and masonry until his health failed.

Roy Lee loved his family and his community unconditionally, he was a gardener for the neighborhood. He loved to listen to blues music and spending time with his family and friends.

Roy Lee departed his life on Monday May 9, 2016 in the presence of his loving family. He was preceded in death by his mother Verlie Mae Wilkerson, father Dave Brown Sr. three brothers Evan Brown, Robert “Jay Bird” Brown, and Dave Brown Jr. Roy L. leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Essie B. Brown; son: Corey Brown of Nashville, TN; daughter: Charonda Brown of Bolivar, TN; one grandson: Tyler Brown; siblings sisters: Emma Cross of Long Island, NY, Verlene (Orville) Newburn of Milwaukee, WI and Virginia Lake of Rockford, IL; brothers: Ricket Brown, Bruce Brown and Howard (Tondra) Brown all of Louisville, KY, Pete Gray of Fulton, KY; godson: Douglas Beaugard, goddaughters: Victoria Moss and Doris Toone; nieces that he raised as his own Jenetha Traylor- Kemp and Meka Mckinnie uncles: Tom Brown, John Brown and Don Brown Sr.; aunts Elnora Woods, Liller Mae Joy (Walter), Clara Woods (Clarence) Alice Woods, Peggy Gibbs (Nathan) and Sarah Brown. A mother in law: Ossie Norment; sister-in-law: Rosie Worles; brother-in-law: Robert Norment (Della); Special friends: Jerry Cox and Von Moss. And a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends that he loved dearly.
