George Robert Laster departed this life on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the age of 84 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. George made his entrance into this world on May 13, 1932, born to Mack Laster and Mora Lee (Matlock) Laster of Parson, TN, who proceeded him in death.

George was educated in the Decatur County School System. He later joined the United States Armed Forces. After his tour of duty was up, he returned to Parsons and began working for Holcomb Produce Company, where he worked for several years.

He also worked at Johnson Controls. George later went on to work at the Turney Center Correctional Facility in Only, Tennessee, and worked there until he retired.

George was a member of Temple Worship Center Church Of God In Christ. He was a lifelong musician and singer, and always enjoyed being called on by the pastor to sing a solo. George always pretended to be surprised when he was called on to sing, even when the pastor had called him the night before to ask him to sing. He was always excited and happy to serenade the audience.

George was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Lela Ann Davenport, and one son: Robert Fletcher Laster.
George leaves to cherish his loving memory five daughters: Carolyn Laster and Rosalind Laster of Parson, TN, Tina Garrett
of Nashville, TN, Ocie Williams of California and Becky Banks of Cleveland, OH; one son: Nigel Thomas of Memphis, TN and one brother: Mac Jr. Laster of Knoxville, TN, sixteen grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends, including special friends, Gary Wayne Garrett, and Detrick Pate, and Lisa Webd.
George Robert Laster lived, loved, laughed, and danced… He will be deeply missed as we celebrate his homegoing on what would have been his 85th birthday, May 13, 2017.
