Bertha Mae Harris 84, departed this life on May 7, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital. After a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late Marcellus Brasher and Lois Hughes of Saltillo, TN.

Bertha was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, sister-in-law and friend. She was the Matriarch of her family and cared for other by cooking and feeding many. Bertha accepted Christ at a young age. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Green MBC for over 30 plus years. Bertha served as a choir member but was most proud of her association as a Pastor’s Aide. She was employed at Deko as an assembler and later worked at Channel 7 where she was a cameraman.

Bertha had a gift of playing the lottery. Numbers were a gift that she enjoyed and she was known to take that gift to the casino and win. Her family always enjoyed her gatherings and cookouts. She believed in family first.

Bertha is proceeded in death by her two daughters; Sandra Casey and Chiquita Harris and one son; Howard Harris and a brother; Mack Brasher. She leaves to celebrate her legacy and cherish her memory her sons; Gary Harris, Terry Tall, Larry Tall, Jerry (Carla) Harris, Derrick (Marsha) Harris, Frederick (Tiffany) Harris and special sons; Johnny McDaniels of Flint, MI and Gary Mouse all of Dayton, OH, sister-in-laws; Mary Casey and Joann Robertson, (25) grandchildren Sonya (her primary caregiver) Neal, Toddy, Gary Jr., Sevetta, Ryan, Steven, Terry Jr., Brian, Michelle, Terri, Latosha, Nekeisha, Maliah, Melvin, Octavia, Derrick Jr., Dajavin, Janiesha, Francessca, Twanna, Shanniece, Phree, Fred III, Tymiah and Anthony, 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She had several special friends including Bessie Rhodes, Lucille Cosby and Dennis Baker.
